What house cleaning costs in Vernon, BC
"How much is it?" is the first thing most people ask us, and the honest answer is that it depends on the hours. So here is exactly how the hours work, what a typical Vernon home takes, and what moves the number up or down.
One rate: $50 an hour, per cleaner
We charge a flat $50 an hour for every cleaner on site, and that is the whole price list. It is the same rate for a house, an office, a move-out or a vacation rental. Supplies are included: we bring everything, including the eco friendly products we make ourselves. There is no contract, no deposit and nothing to pay up front. You get an invoice after the clean for the time actually spent, plus GST.
What a typical Vernon home takes
These are the ranges we see on our own invoices, not estimates from a calculator:
- Recurring house clean: most homes take 2 to 3 hours, so $100 to $150 plus GST per visit. A small condo can be done in an hour and a half; a larger family home with several bathrooms runs 3.5 to 4 hours.
- First clean: plan on about half again as long as a recurring visit. We are getting the home to the level we will then maintain.
- Move-in or move-out clean: usually 5 to 7 hours, so $250 to $350 plus GST. Inside cabinets, appliances, baseboards and every corner.
- Vacation rental turnover: 2 to 3 hours for a typical unit, beds made and bathrooms reset. We can also run the laundry to a local laundromat for you; the laundromat bills its own charge separately from our hours.
Sometimes we send two cleaners. The visit is shorter and the hours are the same: two Geckos for an hour and a half is billed as three hours.
What moves the price
- Size and bathrooms. Bathrooms and kitchens are where the time goes, not square footage.
- How long since the last clean. A home cleaned every two weeks takes far less time than one cleaned every two months.
- Frequency. Weekly and bi-weekly clients get the same cleaner every visit, and that cleaner gets faster in your home because they know it.
- Pets and kids. More hair, more fingerprints, more floors.
- Statutory holidays. A clean that lands on a stat holiday is charged at double the hourly rate, so we will usually suggest moving it.
Travel fees
Vernon and Coldstream are our home base, so there is no travel fee. Further out we charge by drive time, not distance: $25 for the next band and $50 for the furthest one we serve, which covers Armstrong, Enderby, Lumby and Lake Country depending on the address. We confirm your zone in the quote, so there are no surprises on the invoice. You can check your address on our service area map.
What you don't pay for
- A contract or a minimum number of visits.
- Cleaning supplies or equipment.
- Travel inside Vernon and Coldstream.
- A return visit if we missed something you asked for. Tell us within 24 hours and we come back and fix it at no charge.
The fine print, in plain words
We ask for 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. If our team arrives and cannot get in, there is a $50 lockout fee, because the cleaner has already given up that time. Everything else is in our terms and conditions, which are shorter than most.
